Dandelion Lionheart of the Barossa Shiraz

  • Shiraz
  • Australia Barossa Valley

Dandelion Vineyards is the venture of talented winemaker Elena Brooks, and her husband Zar. Their project makes wines from the Barossa and Eden Valleys, Fleurieu, the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale.

This wine comes from ancient, gnarled vines, some approaching and many over a hundred years of age. These vine not only survive, but thrive, on their own roots in some of the oldest soils on the planet. The vines are planted at an altitude of 221 metres.

Intense deep crimson with purple hues, this Shiraz brings a bouquet of bitter chocolate, aniseed, black pepper and luscious raspberry and blueberry aromas to the nose. On the palate, bright and generous berry and plum fruit flavours, both ripe and savoury, are set against a refreshing backbone of acidity. Soft, mouth-coating tannins add to the generous mouthfeel of the wine, which ends in a clean, dry and plum fruit finish.
