La Voûte Touraine Chenonceaux Sauvignon Blanc

  • Sauvignon Blanc
  • France Loire Valley

Made by winemaker Thierry Delaunay, La Voûte hails from the relatively new Loire appellation Touraine-Chenonceaux, created in 2011. Chenonceaux is famous for the majestic Château de Chenonceau, which features on the La Voûte label and spans the Cher River.

The appellation has some interesting regulations which help define its wine’s fragrant, distinctive style. Wines made in Touraine-Chenonceaux are sourced from vines planted on clay, flint, calcareous and prehistoric sandy soils to the southeast of Tours. Its whites must be made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc and may not be sold until May 1st following the vintage, spending roughly seven months on its lees to add weight, texture and complexity.

The La Voûte Touraine-Chenonceaux is defined by notes of red apple, white flowers and a hint of beeswax on the nose. It is dry and vibrant, with refreshing acidity which makes it delicious in its youth, yet still capable of ageing for several years to develop further complexity.

Pale lemon in colour with intense aromas of tropical fruits, grapefruit and white flowers. On the palate, it is fresh and clean, with a fine mineral character and persistent finish.
