The Story of The Secret Garden Gin…

In 2012, Hamish and his wife Liberty, bought a derelict plot of land on the outskirts of Edinburgh, it was there where they laid the roots of The Secret Herb Garden. Hamish, a wine merchant, began to pursue his lifelong passion for plants by gaining a Herbology Diploma. Along with Liberty’s passion for all things vintage, the overgrown lowlands became an award winning herb nursery, local arts centre, shop and even cafe!

With over 30 years experience in the drinks trade and a passion for creating unique tipples from glorious natural ingredients, Hamish began experimenting. Beginning with Apothecary Rose, an ancient ingredient in tinctures and tonics, he discovered a natural reaction that can only be explained by the magic of nature; a natural colour change, the beginning of the Secret Garden Gin.

Apothecary Rose Gin
The backbone for this fantastic gin is Juniper and Coriander where the seeds are very lightly crushed, along with the subtle flavours of the Angelica leaf. These botanicals offer a smooth, elegant and light base gin, to which Apothecary Rose is added. With hints of Turkish delight on the palate and potpourri on the nose this is a gorgeous, smooth gin. Just add tonic and watch it transform from shimmering gold to bright pink in honour of this noble rose’s petals.

Lavender & Echinacea Gin
The Lavender works beautifully in this gin! It provides a soothing aroma and slightly sweet and floral taste, which makes it perfect to enjoy at the end of a hard day. Echinacea is another flower which has long been used in treating ailments and is known to boost the human immune system.
