In recent years Rum has become one of the hottest and most exciting spirit categories around! Some distilleries have shown an ability to consistently produce amazing quality. Foursquare Distillery is certainly one of those.
Based in Barbados, Foursquare has developed a reputation for quality and its ‘Exceptional Cask Selection’ offers a range of different rums from different barrel finishes. All one off limited releases.

2010 represents the latest release from Foursquare Distillery. The twenty-first release (Mark XXI) in the Exceptional Cask Selection, continuing the award-winning Vintage series…

Foursquare Cask Strength 2010 60% (Mark XXI – 21st release)
Matured in Barbados for 12 years in ex-bourbon cask American white oak. Bottled at 60% ABV, without chill-filtration, at its natural colour.
A rich intensity that is balanced in its delivery. A truly excellent Rum that you would want to return to time and again.
£124.99 – available online

Nose: A complex nose packed full of juicy raisins and dried figs. Lots of butterscotch and dark chocolate. A gentle earthy, herbaceous dried sage note cues against pineapple and ripe mango.

Palate: Sweet juicy sultanas lead a riot of rich toffee and fudge-y salted caramel. Hints of Seville orange, and a pleasing tart Victoria plum dimension.

Finish: A long and warming finish full of black pepper, bitter coffee, and dark bitter chocolate. More of the Seville orange note interweaves.
