21st November 2024 by Rachel Wallhouse

At The Whalley Wine Shop we have made no secret of our love of the Gamay grape from the granite soils in Beaujolais. Although the ‘Nouveau’ often gets dismissed the wines offer an exuberant and joyous celebration of young, fruity, fun red wine that doesn’t take itself too seriously. These wines are juicy, vibrant and lots of fun to drink on a cold November evening.

Strict laws mean it’s to be released at one minute past midnight on the third Thursday of November to toast the end of harvest. Which means that this fresh vintage is now available in store!

If you’d like to get your hands on some, you can reserve your stock now by emailing mail@thewhalleywineshop.com and sip this fresh wine like a local.

As usual, quantities are super limited – and when it’s gone, it’s gone!

Oedoria Coeur d’Automne Beaujolais Nouveau 2024
A shop favourite from Cave Oedoria. Their Beaujolais Nouveau is a classic expression of the style, bursting with the characteristic “bubblegum” fruitiness and fresh appeal that many associate with these wines.

£13.99 each & stock limited to only 18 bottles!

Domaine Jean-Baptiste Glou-Glou Beaujolais Nouveau 2024
Made without the addition of any additives and aged in cement vats for five months. The result is a pure expression of the grape; juicy red cherries and raspberries combine with a touch of spice creating an easy drinking, juicy red wine.

£14.99 each & stock limited to only 12 bottles!

Jérome Lacondemine Beaujolais Nouveau 2024
Jerome Lacondemine makes Beaujolais Villages Nouveau from his youngest vines grown on south-facing slopes around the town of Beaujeu. A lot of work and care goes into the vineyard so this is not a just-fruity nouveau, this has more complexity.

£18.99 each & stock limited to 24 bottles
