Vincic Grand Fru 2020

  • Serbia Fruska Gora

Spending 24 months in Serbian Oak casks is what gives this wine its full character. Waxy peach, vanilla and apricot nose. The palate is full-bodied and oaky with lemony acidity. Medium finish. Great as an aperitif as a treat to yourself, but an excellent pairing for poultry and meaty seafood.

The Vinčić family have been growing grapes and producing wine for several decades, but it was only in 2020 that they founded their own winery in the beautiful landscape of the Fruska Gora region in the Pannonian Basin. Situated in the village of Sid, west of Novi Sad, this boutique winery was founded with the aim of bringing only the best quality to the bottle.

The Fruška Gora hill runs approximately 80 kilometers east to west and its highest point is 539 meters. It’s flanked to the north by the Danube River. Most of the hill lies within Serbia’s borders, but a tiny portion of the western end is in Croatia. Vineyard soils are multilayered and full of minerals which provides robustness and complexity in the wines. On the surface the soil is alluvial. There are several layers of clay and limestone where plant roots reach fossilized segments of shell and coral deposited by Pannonian sea sediments.
