Chateau de Lussac, Lussac Saint Emilion 2020

  • Merlot, Cabernet Franc
  • France Bordeaux

Château de Lussac is a historic estate in Lussac, on the Right Bank of Bordeaux. The 30-hectare property was revitalised from 2000 by Hervé Laviale and Griet Van Malderen, who also have interests in estates in Pomerol and Saint-Émilion.

A polished and expressive Bordeaux red, made from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The 2020 vintage shows ripe blackberries, black cherries and wild berries, complemented by subtle spice, violet and a discreet touch of oak. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with supple, rounded tannins, bright freshness and a pleasingly long, mineral finish. A well-balanced Lussac-Saint-Émilion with plenty of fruit and no heaviness.

A natural match for roast lamb with rosemary and garlic, where the juicy fruit and gentle tannins complement the richness of the meat. It would also pair beautifully with steak, beef casserole, duck or mature hard cheeses.
