2. The Dot Austrian Cherry Zweigelt- Niederösterreich, Austria, 2018, 13%
‘The Dot’ wines are made by the world famous producer Wiengut R&A Pfaffl in the Lower Austria wine region of the country. Their Zweigelt is a lush and juicy red wine (whilst being lower in alcohol) with hints of spice and plenty of, you guessed it, dark cherry. Pick it for your next dinner party, offer it to your friends and just watch them get a crush on it!
3. Tikves Vranec Methodius- Macedonia, 2018, 14%
The Tikveš Winery has a natural paradise of vineyards, mountains, lakes and rivers, with a climate perfectly suited to producing quality grapes. This red is made from 100% Vranec grapes. A deeply coloured red wine revealing vibrant aromas of blueberries and blackberries, with hints of chocolate and cocoa. Enjoy with game and smoked meats.
4. Tikves Smederevka Belo- Macedonia, 2018, 11%
Smederevka is an indigenous variety native to the Tikves area of the Republic of Macedonia and is the leading variety for white wines in the region. A pale lemon wine delivering tropical and stone fruit aromas and underpinned by a streak of zesty citrus. Beautifully balanced on the palate with crisp and refreshing fruit flavours. An ideal match with crab cakes or chicken dishes in a light sauce.
5. Solara Orange Wine- Romania, 2018, 12.5%
Get ready for some sunshine in your glass! This is a blend of 51% Feteasca Alba, 19% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Chardonnay and 15% Tamiosa Romaneasca- this is an orange wine that we can all get behind and enjoy! It’s refreshing like a white wine, with the complexity of red wine- what’s not to love? Candied apricots on the nose, slightly herbal, fresh and fruity.
6. Lyme Bay Shoreline- Devon, 2017, 11.5%
The combination of Bacchus, Pinot Noir, Reichensteiner and Seyval Blanc results in a wine with plenty of lemon and tropical citrus, supported by elegant floral notes of nettle, rose and lychee. Grown, picked, pressed and fermented with such care and attention to detail, the wines are then expertly blended to optimum proportions. A wine for seafood.
