It’s become a bit of an icon. One of the wines we love and so apparently do a lot of you… keep reading to find out about a real treat we have available.

We first started selling The Chocolate Block when we opened the doors of The Whalley Wine Shop in 2010. Back then we sold the delicious 2008 vintage. A couple of years later we had real success with the superb 2010 vintage and that’s when a lot of our customers became long term fans of this wine. We have sold it every year since and its always been incredibly popular.

Made by Boekenhoutskloof (try saying that after a few glasses of Chocolate Block!) one of Franschhoek’s leading producers of Syrah or Shiraz. They believe that the vineyards they own are ideally suited to producing Red Blends specifically from the grape varieties found in the Rhone Valley in France. Thus the Chocolate Block is a big, dark, brooding, rich blend of Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault.

And don’t just think it’s all hype, Boekenhoutskloof were named as ‘Winery of the Year 2020’ by the Platter guide, the benchmark for South African Wines.

So to celebrate our work with ‘The Chocolate Block’ over the last 10 years we have managed to secure something very special, a UK exclusive in fact. No-one else in the UK has these wines available!

We have shipped directly from the Boekenhoutskloof cellars, and with special permission from them, 30 bottles of the 2008 Chocolate Block and 30 bottles of the 2010 Chocolate Block. These are being made available exclusively to The Whalley Wine Shop in a special, limited edition Trio pack- containing 1 bottle of the 2008, 1 bottle of the 2010 and 1 bottle of the current vintage, 2018.

This is an exclusive opportunity to see how this Iconic wine has aged and compare the same wine 10 years apart. With a bottle of the stunning 2010 thrown in for good measure!

We have only 30 of these trio packs available priced at £79.99 each!
